The world's strongest strikers  according to 'fourfourtwo'

In football, scoring goals is the hardest task, and this makes the role of the striker the most crucial one on the pitch.

This is a concept well understood in the football market. The most expensive transfers usually involve the players with the greatest ability to score goals, as a good striker can mask the team's weaknesses.

Of course, the role of a striker is no longer limited to finalising actions. They are now required to keep the ball, act as a link in the game, press, exploit corridors and challenge opposing defences hard.

Here is the list of the 10 strongest strikers in the world currently according to 'fourfourtwo' magazine.

10) Dusan Vlahovic, 2000, Serbia
After scoring 49 goals in 108 games with Fiorentina, the Serbian player's arrival in Turin in January 2022 raised high expectations among Juventus fans. Although he has not yet reached the levels they had hoped for, also considering the transitional period Juventus is going through, the Serbian player has nevertheless managed to reach double figures in goals in Serie A this season, despite the fact that off-field issues with the club have created turmoil on the pitch.

9) Alexander Isak, 1999, Sweden
Joining a Premier League team with a £60m-plus contract in the summer of 2022 can certainly generate a lot of pressure for a young footballer. However, Isak has responded positively to these expectations since his arrival at St. James' Park. Although an injury slowed down his start to his Newcastle career, the Swede has recovered brilliantly, scoring a goal every other game and putting defenders in trouble with his extraordinary speed and spellbinding touch.

8) Gabriel Jesus, 1997, Brazil
Unlike most other strikers, it is what Jesus brings to the team besides goals that is so important to Arsenal. In fact, his mobility, sidefooted play and tireless work ethic make him a valuable addition to the Gunners, confirming Mikel Arteta's decision to sign him from Manchester City. Few spearheads in world football plague defenders with the same level of dedication as Jesus, while reaching double figures in the Premier League once again highlights his ability to finish in the net.

7) Lautaro Martinez, 1997, Argentina
Leading Inter to its first Champions League final since 2010 may not even be the highlight of the 2022/23 season for Martinez, considering that the agile striker was also part of the Argentine team that won the World Cup in Qatar. Despite being criticised during the tournament for his performances, Martinez answered his detractors by scoring 20 goals in Serie A and reaching the aforementioned final. The Argentine boasts lightning speed and a powerful shot.

6) Robert Lewandowski, 1988, Poland
The indefatigable Pole became the first player to score hat-tricks in the Champions League with three different teams, a milestone achieved for Barcelona against Viktoria Plzen at the beginning of September. At 34 years of age, Lewandowski could have opted for the easy way out when he left Bayern during the summer. Instead of opting for MLS, however, he landed in Catalonia, and continued the goalscoring form that has seen him score over 344 goals in 375 appearances for the German giants.

5) Victor Osimhen, 1998, Nigeria
Napoli has many players to thank for their extraordinary triumph in the 2022/23 championship, but none deserves more praise than Victor Osimhen. His expensive move to Napoli did not initially yield the desired results, but in the most recent season the Nigerian striker proved his worth with 23 goals in 29 games. The focal point of Napoli's attacks, Osimhen is direct and has only one goal: to score goals. Whether jumping to strike a header or getting in the way of inviting crosses, his desire to send the ball into the net is evident.

4) Harry Kane, 1993, England
Were it not for the outstanding performances of another Premier League striker this season, Kane's performance would rightly be recognised as exceptional, especially considering he is playing with a Spurs team that shows a lack of confidence and offensive ability. His 25-plus goals highlight his importance to Tottenham. Kane is Tottenham's all-time leading goalscorer and has recently overtaken Wayne Rooney to move into second place on the Premier League's all-time top scorers list.

3) Karim Benzema, 1987, France
The rugged French striker continues to defy time, maturing beyond the age of 30 like a fine wine. His shooting accuracy, strength, determination and incredible pace of play are simply outstanding for a 35-year-old player, and it does not look like he will slow down any time soon. Although he has not been able to fully replicate the form that won him the Ballon d'Or, Benzema continues to drag Real Madrid along with his goals and his attacking play.

2) Kylian Mbappé, 1998, France
Despite all the talk surrounding Mbappé's future at PSG, even after the rich new contract signed in the summer of 2022, the Frenchman has continued to excel in an unconvincing team. Another astounding haul of over 35 goals highlights his ability; when Kylian is on form, there is no stopping him, as Ligue 1 defences have had the misfortune to discover over the years.

1) Erling Haaland, 2000, Norway
There were some who doubted whether Haaland would do as well in the Premier League, believing that a superior English defence would limit the threat he posed in Germany. He responded to those critics emphatically. The Norwegian made Premier League defences look ridiculous, reaching double figures in just six league games, scoring four hat-tricks and breaking the record for most goals in a single season with absolute ease.
